When you think about your wedding day, you probably imagine joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments—not a camera in your face or someone barking orders. That’s why choosing the right videographer isn’t just about their gear or editing skills—it’s about finding someone who can help create a fun, relaxed atmosphere while capturing every beautiful moment.

A great videographer knows how to blend in while also guiding when needed. They won’t turn your day into a film set, but they will know how to gently prompt you or your wedding party to get the best shots—without ever making things feel forced or awkward.
What sets an exceptional videographer apart is their energy. They bring calm when things feel rushed, and they bring fun when nerves are high. Whether it’s helping the groomsmen loosen up for morning prep shots or hyping up the bridal party during portraits, the right videographer is part filmmaker, part hype person, and part friend.
You’re not just hiring someone to record your wedding—you’re hiring someone who will be with you more than almost anyone else that day. You want that person to make you feel at ease, to laugh with you, and to capture the real, natural magic as it happens.

As a wedding videographer, here are a few ways I try to keep the wedding day fun:
Laughter
This is the most obvious, but most important. A wedding day should be fun. There are many ways a videographer can create laughter. The obvious joke here in there is certainly a great way to relieve stress. But it also comes down to shot ideas. Do fun shots like the groomsmen tossing the groom which creates fun and laughter. Do a "drunk walk" with the bridesmaids and bride as everyone stumbles over each other.
Removing Stress
Weddings can be stressful. Part of my job as a videographer is removing stress. Did you forget your bouqet? Can't find your parents? Worried about the agenda? All these stress situations is part of a videographers job to manage. Make sure the bride and groom are able to enjoy themselves and let the vendors worry about the details.
Conversation
A happy accident that happens with videographers is conversations. We aren't looking for poses. We are looking for emotion. This means conversing with each other and encouraging those talks. This helps a videographer get audio content and emotion, and everyone else can socialize.

When couples look back on their wedding day, they don’t just remember what happened—they remember how they felt. A great videographer helps make those feelings unforgettable, both in the moment and in the final video you’ll cherish for life.
